AED's and Accessories
AED/Accessories
An automated external defibrillator (AED) consists of a portable unit designed to treat life-threatening irregular heartbeats through defibrillation. This involves the application of electricity to stop the arrhythmia and give the cardiac muscle an opportunity to reestablish useful heart rhythms. AED units are designed to be simple to use for individuals to provide first aid as well as those who may be certified first responders or who have undergone basic life support classes. Some locations have them installed in public access kiosks to keep them on hand should an emergency arise.
Examples of AED Units
1) Cardiac Science Powerheart Pro units come in a single case that's designed to be relatively portable. They come with batteries to power the device and feature soft defibrillator pads.
2) Defibtech devices from Second Chance Medical Products offer voice prompts to tell the operator when to perform certain actions. They can be used with traditional CPR methods but are also designed for use with hands-only resuscitation techniques.
3) Zoll Medical AED Plus units offer device advisory messages and show total elapsed time on a built-in LCD screen. These devices also offer a built-in chest compression graph and shock counter.
